Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and if you’re looking for a frugal but heartfelt gift, you can’t go past coupons that promise a variety of services and other acts of kindness that Mum will love.

I’ve created a bunch of free printable gift coupons that you can download. It includes both pre-filled coupons and blank coupons that you can customise with things that are perfect for your mum.

As a mum myself, it’s nice to have a special day off from doing chores and when I can be a little spoilt. But like many readers here, I’m not into the commercialisation of these occasions, and I don’t really want my kids to buy me gifts, especially ones I probably won’t use.

But coffee in bed or them cleaning their room without any drama?

YES PLEASE!

That’s why coupons are the perfect Mother’s Day gift. They are also a gift that keeps on giving throughout the year.

Guide to the Free Mother’s Day Coupons

The printable coupons below are a mixture of pre-filled and blank coupons. The blank ones are there if you want to personalise them. You can use all or just some of the pre-filled coupons, just the blank ones, or mix and match with the customisable ones to tailor the gift.

The pre-filled coupons include:

  • breakfast in bed
  • 1 hour of quiet time
  • help with the laundry
  • help with doing the dishes
  • 1 hug
  • help with cooking dinner
  • 1 room clean
  • morning drink in bed
  • 1 bubble bath alone
  • a DIY spa and pamper session
  • no arguing all day
  • Mum’s movie night pick
  • dinner not cooked by mum
  • vacuuming the floor
  • foot or shoulder massage
  • making Mum’s bed
  • 1 hour of yard work
  • morning tea out
  • taking out the garbage

Blank Coupons

To truly personalise your coupon book, you can write on the blank coupons things your mum will appreciate.

Does mum have a favourite meal she hasn’t enjoyed in a while, or does she need help in the garden or her car washed?  Encourage siblings and other family members to participate, making it a collective effort to show Mum just how much she’s loved.

How to Download, Print, and Use the Coupons

Downloading and using these coupons is easy! Simply click on the download link below and save the PDF file to your device.

Printing

These coupons are best printed on a colour printer on cardstock.

The page is set to A4 size—for US readers only; you may need to adjust your printer settings to A4 or scale the page slightly by selecting ‘fit to printer margins’ or similar when printing.

We don’t have a printer, so I printed mine online at Officeworks. Uploading the files to their system was easy, and it cost me less than $3 to print three* colour pages on 250gsm cardstock, making it a very frugal gift. It took about an hour before we were notified our printing was ready to be picked up.

I experimented on 200gsm, 250gsm, and 300gsm to see which was the best paper thickness. While there’s not much difference between the weights, I found 250gsm to be just

*Note: on the last printable page, there is a second cover to make the coupon book. If you don’t want to use the pre-filled coupons, you can still print a cover without printing the whole first page. If you are using the pre-filled coupons, you can skip printing the final page.

Once printed, simply cut along the lines and choose the ones you want to include in your booklet.

Presenting the Coupons

You can present the coupons tied in some string or ribbon or stapled into a coupon booklet.

I used a ring to bind the coupons into a book – you can pick up the rings from Big W or Officeworks or you can get similar ones on Amazon

Other fun ideas include placing them in a handmade card, attaching them to a bouquet of flowers, or even hiding them around the house for a fun scavenger hunt if Mum is into that kind of thing.

If you want to fill out the gift, you can add the coupons as part of a hamper and collect items that go well with each voucher. For example, one of the coupons is for a bubble bath, so you can add a bath bomb, some homemade bath salts or some bubble bath to a hamper so it’s easy for mum to enjoy the bath. Another example is adding some tea or coffee to the hamper for Mum’s breakfast in bed.
